Errol Christie biography out in March, 2010

It's already available for pre-order on the Amazon and Waterstone's website - and we can confirm that Errol Christie's biography "No Place To Hide" will be out towards the end of March 2010.  The intro is written by Steve Bunce.  There is a whole load of material on Errol's early professional years and his time at the legendary Kronk.  Plenty of 1980s boxing gossip and some stories that have never been put in print before.  The front cover has Errol after the Bonnetaz fight in 1984.

Second draft of Errol's book with the publisher

News on the publishing street is that Errol's book is going to final re-writes at the moment - at the second draft stage.  Plenty of revelations about his time in the ring and his spectacular rise and fall.  You can pre-order it already on Tesco, Waterstone's and Amazon and our retail mole says pre-sales are going very well.  Shame it can only be a Christmas stocking filler for next year.

Front cover for Errol Christie biography

Buy it in advance of the March 2010 launch date on the Waterstone's, Tesco or Amazon websites.  Steve Bunce has written the intro and it promises to spill the beans on the 1980s boxing scene.  A real roller coaster ride of a book an essential stocking filler next year.  But not this year unfortunately.

Mad Frankie Fraser meets Errol Christie

Mad Frankie Fraser and Errol Christie met up today in central London to be filmed by a camera crew.  Apparently, the two were sharing some memories about boxing in the eighties.  Not least the various connections between the gangster world and the boxing ring.  We understand there was also a photo shoot and pix of Errol and Frankie will be appearing in Mr Christie's forthcoming biography - 'No Place To Hide'.  Errol and Frankie shared a cab back to south London afterwards and the two seemed to be the firmest of friends.

Steve Bunce and Errol Christie share the stage...

Down in Stratford on Tuesday, 29th September - Errol Christie was invited on stage by Steve Bunce at his Buncelive event.  Buncie has written the intro to Errol's forthcoming biography No Place To Hide and Christie was only too happy to hold forth about some of the stories from his youth.  He referred to his boxing career in the eighties or "haties" as he prefers to call them.  There are photos of the evening on Errol Christie's Facebook page.

Steve Bunce on tour - Errol to attend London event

Steve Bunce is on the road as part of his Buncelive roadshow.  We hear early events have gone down well and it goes to show that in spite of Setanta folding, there's still a big fan base for Buncie out there.  So why isn't he on the telly?  The BBC have given him a radio slot in London.  C'mon people - get the Buncoid back on the airwaves.  When he's in London on Tuesday, 29th September - Errol Christie will be in attendance.  Bunce has written the introduction to Errol's biography which is being published in March, 2010.  Should be an interesting evening.

Kaylor and Christie to talk about their big fight???

It may just be a rumor but we hear on the boxing grapevine that Mark Kaylor and Errol Christie may feature in some kind of video - possibly on YouTube - to talk about their big grudge match in 1985.  For those of you who remember, and those who don't, this was a Guy Fawkes Night bout where the fireworks were literally going off outside the ring and metaphorically going off inside the ring.  The two guys laid in to each other like two wild animals sending each other down.  It was a time of great racial tension in Britain and Kaylor's victory was felt badly by the black community at the time.  Let's hope the two men can talk about it now.

Errol Christie movie has £1.5m backer

We hear on the grapevine that a movie based on the life of Errol Christie and Neville Staple has a £1.5m backer.  Does anybody know more?   One of Errol's boxing students is Hollywood mogul Arnon Milchan - producer of most of Brad Pitt's movies - is he the mystery backer?  Errol's book is still slated for publication in March 2010.  Will this coincide with the movie release?  He's been working with ex-BBC producer Tony McMahon on the book and movie.   All gossip gratefully received.

Film on Errol's life is on the cards

Our spies tell us that two million pounds is in the pipeline to back a film based in part round the life of Errol Christie.  It will also feature the music of The Specials - a band from Errol's home town Coventry.  Christie is reported to be very chuffed by the money being lined up by the movie industry.  The question is - who is going to play him?  And more to the point - who would play Mark Kaylor!

Errol Christie launches new website

Former middleweight champ, European champ and England's first black boxing captain (correct me if I'm wrong there) Errol Christie has finally re-launched his website. You can find it here at http://errolchristie.com/www.errolchristie.com/Welcome.html

The all round nice guy of British boxing seems to have been doing some anti-gun and knife crime stuff in the schools - mainly south London. Two of his own brothers ended up behind bars because they want down the wrong path so this is obviously a subject close to Errol's heart. He's determined to keep the kids on the straight and narrow. I met him recently and he said he was sickened by all this talk about 'bling' and 'respect' which leads to kids pulling knives on each other.

His book is out in March next year and my publishing mole tells me the front cover has already been designed. I'm also informed by my mole that Waterstone's are taking quite an interest in Errol's pull no punches biog. Can't wait to see the end result!
